Description

Bourne Cottage is a 17th-century house located in Allington Boscombe. It is built of cob on a flint foundation, rendered and colourwashed, and has a thatched roof. The house is one storey and attic with three bays. The central bay contains the main living room, with an axial stack to the left and a service room behind the stack. A parlour is situated in a flush cross wing to the right. The entrance is through a glazed door within a thatched open porch, centrally located. There are small paned casement windows, with metal windows in the cross wing. Two dormers are present in the roof. The cross wing has a half-hipped front and extends slightly at the rear, likely originally containing two rooms. A single rendered stack is visible. A later single-storey extension to the left now houses the main door, and a garage is attached to the right. Inside the living room is a chamfered spine beam with run-out stops, alongside a timber fire lintel.
