Description

Bridge Cottage is a house dating from the early 18th century. It is constructed of flint with brick quoins and lacing, and features clunch lacing on the side. The building has two storeys and attics, with two bays. The layout includes a central stair hall plan, with the original kitchen to the left and a parlour to the right. There is an off-centre boarded door that is sheltered by an open gabled and tiled porch. The windows are paned casement style and have later shutters. The house has gable stacks, with the one on the right being an early 19th-century addition for an unheated room. There is a lean-to outbuilding that has replaced a two-storey outshut and now serves as a garage on the left, along with a lean-to at the rear that contains service rooms. Inside, the stack in the main room features a chamfered timber fire lintel and an oven, with shaped chamfer stops. The partitions are made of ovolo moulded lapped planks.
