Description

The granary east of Rosecott is an 18th-century structure. It is timber framed and covered with corrugated iron, standing on five by eleven staddles, and features a tiled roof. The building has five bays with an aisle on the west side. The north end bay is separated and floored, likely for storing threshed grain. There are doors to the central bay, as well as pitching doors to the bays on either side of the central doors and to the gable. The granary has jowled posts with reverse curved angle braces supporting the ties, queen struts, and two tiers of purlins. The principal rafters are diminished above the upper clasped purlins, while the lower purlins are butted. Wind braces are present in the central bay, and the roof is half hipped at the ends.
