Description

The Drive is a cottage from the mid-18th century, constructed with rendered cob on brick footings and featuring a thatched roof. It is a single storey with an attic, comprising three bays. The central bay has an axial stack, with an inner room located behind it and an entrance to a service room at the north end. The cottage has a boarded door, 20th-century paned timber windows, and two flush dormers on the front, along with one at the rear. The roof is half-hipped, and there is a brick stack with pots. A cob wall, approximately 4 meters high on the left, connects to Cottage No 2. Cottages Nos 1, 2, and 3 share identical plans and form an interesting group of estate cottages, likely built for the estate following the construction of the Manor House, showcasing contemporary yet contrasting building methods.
