Description
The Old Rectory is a rectory that has been converted into a private house. It was rebuilt in 1728 for Reverend John Talman and originally included two parlours, two chambers, two garrets, and a stable. The building features a mix of dispersed flint and stone, with tiled hung gables and a tiled roof. It is two storeys high, with a cellar and attics. The western block, dating from the early to mid-18th century, consists of five bays made of brick, with stone quoined openings and twelve-paned sash windows. There are two gables and a dormer situated between them, along with a stack on the west gable. At the rear, there are extensive early 19th-century additions, which include a canted bay to the south and service rooms in the east wing. The entrance leads to a stair hall in the 19th-century section. Inside, the rectory retains an original chimney piece in the parlour and reused moulded ceiling beams.
