Description
These are a group of four 17th-century cottages, located at 1-5 Guilder Lane, that were altered in the early 19th century. They are two-story buildings with a common, steeply pitched gable end roof covered in old tile. Number 1 is currently undergoing restoration, revealing a timber frame with brick infilling, after having been previously rendered. Numbers 3 and 5 are likely also timber framed but have been recased in red brick. Number 1 has two sliding sash windows with small panes on each floor. It features a modern “Gothic” front door. Numbers 3 and 5 have two renewed casement windows with cambered arches. Modernised doors with small hoods are located at each end of the front facade for all properties. Numbers 1 to 15 (odd) are designated as a group.
