Description

This is a late 18th-century building comprising two storeys and an attic, located on the south side of Winchester Street. The building is constructed of painted brick with an old tile roof, featuring dormer casements. A decorative band cornice, which was originally present, has been replaced with plain eaves. The first floor has six flush architrave framed windows with sash windows and no glazing bars. The ground floor features two Victorian shop fronts, one double to the left, and a six-panel door positioned centrally. The door is topped by a rectangular fanlight incorporating circular and diamond glazing patterns. Flanking the door are slender, engaged Doric columns and a moulded, bracketed dentil cornice to a bowed hood. The building forms a group with numbers 56 to 78 (even) on Winchester Street and numbers 2 to 14 (even) on Guilder Lane.
