Description

The terrace wall, rails, steps, and gate piers of Blechyndens Almshouses, located on the north side of Winchester Street, date back to 1594. The red brick wall, which supports a terraced garden, was restored in 1930 and features stone coping. It includes modern rails and gate piers, which were formerly topped with an arch, as well as a double flight of stone steps. Blechyndens Almshouses and the adjacent properties numbered 77 to 85 (odd) are recognized as a group.
