Description

Wick Farmhouse is an early 18th-century farmhouse constructed of Flemish bond brick with a tiled roof and brick stacks. It features a two-span roof and is two stories high with five windows. The central entrance has a six-panelled door beneath a timber-framed canopy, flanked by blind windows, with 20th-century metal casements on either side. A three-brick plat band runs along the first floor, which includes two three-light casements, one two-light casement, and two blind windows. The roof has two hipped dormers, and there are gable-end brick stacks. The external stack on the right side has a limestone plinth and tumbling-in of offsets, with a latticed leaded casement to the left and a six-panelled door with a casement above to the right. The left side has one blocked window and some limestone and flint chequers at the base of the wall, along with a 20th-century window on the ground floor and a two-light casement on the first floor. The rear has 20th-century windows on the ground floor and two two-light leaded casements on the first floor. There is a single-storey extension attached to the right. Notable datestones include '1st June 1732' on the west wall and 'WC Esq/June 16th 1772' on the north wall. Inside, there is a chamfered lintel over an open fireplace with bread ovens, a late 18th-century eared fireplace on the first floor with a fluted frieze, and a mid-Victorian marble fireplace in the west room. The staircase features turned balusters.
