Description

The Bull Hotel is an inn dating from the early 18th century. It is constructed of Flemish bond brick with tiled roofs and brick stacks. The building features a 5-bay central range, a converted stable block to the right, and rear wings. The main range is two stories high with five windows, while the right side includes a single storey and attic range.

The entrance is marked by a 19th-century half-glazed door set in a beaded case, topped with a flat wooden hood supported by finely carved console brackets. To the left and right of the door are canted bays with 4-pane sash windows. The right side has two 3-light casements and four 9-pane sashes, all featuring segmental heads. The first floor has a 3-brick plat band and includes two 2-light and two 3-light casements, along with one blind window. There are also two dormers on the right, one louvred and one with a 2-light casement. The main range has four hipped dormers with cast-iron latticed casements.

To the left, there is a 19th-century attached bay with a through cart-entry, featuring double planked doors with strap hinges and canted bay windows on both floors. The right range has coped tile verges. At the rear left is the converted stable block, which also has a tiled roof. The main range includes an outshut and two attached two-storey wings with 2-light casements.

Inside, the hotel has chamfered beams with step and run-out stops. A late 18th-century fireplace features a fluted frieze and beaded surround. A disc from the Sun Insurance Company is displayed on the front of the building. The Bull Hotel has been recorded as an inn since 1726.
