Description

Nos 12 and 14 on The Borough are a pair of cottages built in the late 17th century. They feature square-panelled timber-framing with brick nogging and straight bracing, topped with a thatched roof and brick stacks. The cottages are arranged in a 4-bay layout and were originally designed with a baffle-entry. They stand one storey high with an attic and have four windows in total. The exterior includes two planked doors, three 2-light casements, and one single casement. In the attic, No. 12 has two 3-light casements, while No. 14 has two 2-light casements. Inside, the cottages boast chamfered beams with step and run-out stops, as well as chamfered joists. Notably, No. 12 features winding stairs beside the open fireplace.
