Description

The White Lion Public House, located on Northgate Street, is a two-storey building dating from around 1840. It is constructed of painted brick and sits on a rendered plinth. The first floor features a sill course, and the building has a low-pitched hipped slate roof with shallow eaves cornice.

On the first floor, there are three windows, while the ground floor has two windows and a central entrance, all set in round-headed recesses. The windows are recessed sashes with later glazing bars and flat brick arches. The entrance door consists of six fielded panels and is topped by a rectangular fanlight with a glazing pattern of linked concave-sided diamonds.

The Northgate Street elevation also has three windows on both floors, with similar arched recesses on the ground floor, although these are positioned closer together than those on the entrance front.
