Description

The Lodge is a building dating from around 1840, located on Alfred Street in Westbury. It is two storeys high and constructed of brick. The building features flat eaves supported by widely spaced pairs of cut wood brackets and has a hipped slate roof. The windows are glazing bar sash windows, with two three-light windows featuring large panes and a single central window that is four panes wide on the first floor. On the ground floor, there are two three-light windows with large panes, stone mullions, and a lintel that is crowned with a cornice on cut brackets. The central entrance consists of a five-panel door, with the top panels glazed, set in a plain stone surround. A Greek Doric stone porch enhances the entrance, featuring two fluted columns, wall pilasters, an entablature, and a blocking course. The property is enclosed by a brick wall with stone coping along the road, and there are rusticated square stone gate piers topped with pediment-shaped caps. Plain railings are present along the wall.
