Description

The fort memorial, located in the churchyard about 6 metres south of the porch of the Church of St. Mary, is a chest tomb from the early 19th century. It is made of limestone ashlar and features a plinth with two flush beaded panels on each of the main sides and one on each end. The tomb has a chamfered cornice leading to a flat top that bears an inscription. It commemorates George Fort, the builder of Alderbury House, who died in 1807.
