Description

The Lodge is a mid-19th century lodge built to serve Alderbury House. It is constructed of Flemish bond brickwork with a half-hipped tiled roof and a brick stack to the rear. The building has a T-shaped plan and originally presented a single-window facade. The front door is a six-panel design set within a rustic porch with a tiled roof. To the right of the entrance is a two-light cast-iron latticed casement window, and to the left a three-light canted bay with a cast-iron latticed casement. The rear has two small cast-iron latticed casement windows. The interior remains uninspected. Several courses of 18th-century brickwork along the base of the west and north walls suggest an earlier building occupied this site. The lodge is included on the heritage register for its group value with Alderbury House.
