Description

EAST KNOYLE MILTON ST 83 SE (north side) 8/34 Milton Farmhouse GV II Farmhouse. Circa 1700, fenestration c1800. Dressed limestone, tiled roof with coped verges and gable end brick stacks. T-plan. Two-storey, 5-window. Central 6-panelled door with transom light with gothic glazing bars in gabled stone porch, two 2-light casements with gothic glazing bars to either side. First floor has five 2-light casements with gothic glazing bars. Two gabled dormers with C20 casements. Left return has C20 single-light casement to attic. Rear of main range has glazed door, 2-light casements, one with gothic glazing bars to first floor, to right of wing, C20 casement to left of wing with blocked brick arch to ground floor, probably associated with former bread oven. Wing has C19 brick lean-to extension on east side, attached outhouse has planked door and casement with gothic glazing bars, first floor has similar casements. Interior has chamfered beams with stepped stops, large open fireplace at east end with chamfered lintel on renewed jambs, bread ovens, 4-panelled or planked doors and window shutters.
