Description

NEW STREET 1. 1594 (South Side) No 1 SU 1429 NW 3/118 28.2.52. II GV 2. L plan. Street block early C16 rear range of C17 origin. 2 storeys and attic colour washed brick. Band between storeys. Double pitch gable end old tile roof, moulded and coved eaves cornice. Central gabled dormer, tile hung cheeks with small casement. 3 windows 1st floor flush framed sashes, one tripartite 2 windows, on ground floor one plate glass, glazing bars otherwise intact. Door of 6 flush panels in plain surround with flat moulded hood to right. Secondary door to left in, similar surround. (Formerly there was a long garden wall to east, now demolished. ) The entrance hall has painted C17 oak panelling. South rear room fragmentary C17 panelling. the roof partly sealed: 2 trusses tie beams and raised centre collars, exposed wall post and plates. Rear wing C17 wall plates and butt purlins visible.
