Description

The Summer House in the garden of No 15 is a late 17th century to early 18th century structure featuring banded rustication on painted stone. It has a full-width moulded pediment adorned with a cartouche and delicately carved cornucopia. The front consists of three bays with windows set in rectangular recesses, complete with keystones and voussoirs above flat arches. The central window is full-length with a parallel base and thick glazing bars. The west front also features a pediment, with double pilasters framing double glazed doors that have a heavy lattice glazing pattern. The interior of the summer house is panelled. No 68 The Close has similar glazing on its garden door. All the listed buildings in The Close create an outstanding group.
