The gateway and overthrow in the garden of No. 16 The Close dates from the early 19th century or late 18th century. It features reset elements, including scroll panelled standards and a gracefully arched overthrow with a lamp-holder and scroll work. The gateway is part of a picturesque group that includes Nos. 14, 14A, St. Anne's Gate, and No. 15.
