Description
The Cloisters, located at 3 and 5 St John's Street, is a building dating from the 15th to 16th century. It is two stories high with an attic and features a timber frame with plaster infilling, along with an oversailing upper part and an old tile roof. The building has three gabled, tile-hung dormers with lead casements. On the first floor, there are three casements with 19th-century lights. The ground floor includes a plain modern shop front on the right and an early 19th-century shop window with 12 panes and a glazed door on the left. In the left corner, there is a 19th-century ledged door with arched applied mouldings and carved enrichment in its original spalyed frame. A moulded bressumer runs over the shop fronts at the base of the overhang. The Cloisters is part of an important group of buildings that includes Nos 1 to 13 (odd).
