Description

The School of Arts Annexe, dating from the 18th century, is a two-storey building with an attic. It features an elaborate symmetrical design made of red brick set on a stone plinth. The first floor has a stone string course, and all windows are adorned with stone architraves. A stone moulded and bracketed cornice runs along the top, leading to a tall parapet that includes recessed vitreous brick panels on the left side and small windows in the center and right side. The roof is half hipped and covered with old tiles.

At the center of the building is a prominent two-storey angular bay that extends into the attic. This bay is supported by four Doric columns and features a cornice that wraps around it, topped with a hipped roof projection. The bay contains three windows on the upper floors and two narrow windows on the ground floor, which flank a six-panel central door that has a notable knocker. Each side of the bay has three additional windows. All ground and first-floor windows are embellished with triple keystones, and the architrave of the ground floor windows extends down to the plinth.

Each gable end showcases a large semi-circular three-light attic window, with one window below it on the first floor. Inside, there is a late 18th-century staircase and some fine contemporary panelling. To the right, there is a three-storey extension made of red brick, featuring a hipped old tile roof, stone cornice, and semi-circular three-light windows on each floor facing the street.
