Description
No. 7 New Street is a building that dates back to the 15th or 16th century, with alterations made in the 18th and 19th centuries. It has two storeys and an attic, featuring a brick plinth and a timber frame that is stuccoed, with the first floor oversailing. The roof has a steep pitch and is covered with old tiles.
In the attic, there is a two-light casement window set into the wall face, which extends up to create a large dormer with a hipped roof. On the first floor, there are two windows with 18th-century moulded flush frames, and 19th-century sash windows. The ground floor includes a sash window with panelled shutters, and to the right, there is a door with six fielded panels set within an architrave case, topped by a heavy cantilevered hood.
Inside, the front room facing the street features 18th-century fielded panelling. The building is part of a group that includes Nos. 1 to 11 (odd).
