Description

Poticary's Barn is a 17th-century barn that was rebuilt and reduced in size in 1980. It features a dressed limestone plinth supporting a timber frame with weatherboard cladding and a half-hipped thatched roof. The barn originally had eight bays but now has four. The east front has two gabled porches with double planked doors and one low planked door. The rear includes a gabled porch with double planked doors on the right and double planked doors without a porch on the left. There is a 20th-century planked and pantiled shed attached to the south gable end, which is not of special interest. Inside, the barn has collar and tie-beam roof trusses with two tiers of butt purlins and straight windbracing, with much of the timber restored and conserved during the 1980 renovations.
