Description
This is a barn dating from the 18th century, located 50 meters south-west of Preston Gate Cottage in Ramsbury. The barn is timber framed, with walls that are one panel high resting on high brick and flint sills. It is weatherboarded and features a thatched roof. The structure is built across a slope and consists of six bays, with a full south aisle and a part north aisle. It has jowelled posts that are braced to plates and ties, along with queen struts and collar braces supporting two butt purlins. There are no windbraces present. The west bay is divided by a framed and boarded partition and was formerly floored, with the arcade plate supported on posts that tie to the gable wall. The east bay is floored as a stable, with a hay loft above and a pitching door in the gable.
