Description
Baydon Manor is a large house built in the early 19th century, with later additions from the late 19th century and work completed in 1905-1906. The building is constructed of brick, with some parts rendered, and features both tile and slate roofs. It is two stories high and has a symmetrical three-bay elevation facing the road, which includes a central six-panel door set within a delicate stone Corinthian portico. The windows are 16-pane sashes with wedge stone lintels.
On the left side of the building, there is a two-story rendered bow with three 16-pane sashes on each floor. The rear block has later 19th-century tripartite windows with stone mullions and a fanlight above the central light. There is a two-bay extension to the left of this elevation. At the back, there is a three-story water tower topped with a pyramidal roof, which features an entrance with a glazed door. To the right of the tower is a part timber-framed section added in 1905-1906 for A. E. White. A house has been located on this site since at least 1773, and it was previously known as Marridge Hill House.
