Description

The gate piers to Membury House date from the 18th to 19th century and are constructed of brick with stone copings. Each pier is made of 18-inch brickwork featuring recessed courses and stone moulded caps topped with ball finials. The left pier is taller, and it appears that its matching pier has been removed, leaving a pedestrian gate and one remaining pier. There are curved wing walls leading to a pair of terminal piers on either side, with moulded stone copings that sweep up to the piers. To the right, there is a lodge from the late 19th century, which is not considered of special interest.
