Description

Whatton Dyke Cottage is a 17th-century cottage located in Ramsbury Whittonditch. It's constructed of flint with brick quoins, lacing, and panelling which conceals a timber frame, and has a thatched roof. Originally a 2-bay cottage, an additional bay was added in the 18th century to the left. The main elevation features 50mm brick quoins and a decorative brick panel in the centre. It has 20th-century paned casement windows. The thatch is swept over two dormers and drawn down over the outshut of the added bay. A gable stack is present. A date of 1646 is recorded on the building. The interior includes heavy chamfered spine beams with run-out stops, exposed joists, a timber-framed partition between bays, and a chamfered fire beam.
