Description
Preston Gate Cottage is a cottage from the early 19th century that has been refaced from an earlier building. It features brick laced flint, which may have replaced timber framing, and has a thatched roof. The rear of the cottage is made of flint, while brick quoins frame the openings. The structure is one storey with an attic and consists of five bays divided into two sections. The left section has three bays, with a partially glazed door located opposite the stack in the right bay. Attached to the right is a two-bay section with a door in the first bay and a gable stack. The wall plate runs continuously across the building. There are segmental brick arches over the ground floor casement windows, and two flush dormers in the attic, with the thatch extending over them. Additionally, there is an oven located at the rear of the main stack, which is visible from the outside.
