Description

Barton Cottage and its outbuildings, located to the west of No 6 on Pound Lane, date back to the 17th century. The cottage is two storeys high, constructed of random rubble with a pantiled roof and a central stone chimney. It features two windows, which are triple casements on the upper floor, although the glazing bars are missing. There is a door with a timber lintel positioned to the right of the windows. An extension made of small ashlar stone is located to the east.

Adjacent to the cottage is a range of farm outbuildings that extends from the west wall of the cottage and meets a second range that runs south at a right angle. These outbuildings are likely from the 18th century and are single storey. At the junction of the two ranges, there is a section that is raised above the rest. The outbuildings are constructed of coursed rubble with ashlar blocks, and timber baulks serve as pillars supporting the roofs on the open sides. They have pantiled roofs with stone ridges, and the higher corner section features its own gables with parapets and kneelers. Inside, the buildings have simple open tie-beam roofs.

All the listed buildings on Pound Lane are part of a group.
