Description
Demelza Cottage is a pair of cottages located on Hindon High Street, dating from the late 18th century. They are constructed of dressed limestone with a tiled roof and an axial brick stack. The buildings are two stories high and feature two windows. Demelza Cottage has a 19th-century door and a three-light casement window to the left, while No 65 has a 20th-century door and a three-light steel casement window. On the first floor, there are a three-light wooden casement and a three-light steel casement, along with two carved shell-heads from 18th-century shell-headed niches, which are said to have been reset to the center and are believed to have originated from Fonthill, likely from Splendens in Fonthill Park. The cottages also have a moulded stone eaves cornice. Inside, the interiors feature an open fireplace with timber lintels set on stone jambs.
