Description

This is an early 19th-century milestone located on the east side of Devizes Road in Derry Hill, opposite number 31. The milestone features an attached cast-iron front with a triangular shape and lunettes on each side. It displays the distances to Chippenham (3 miles) to the north and Malmesbury (13 miles) to the south. The flat gabled top includes a lunette indicating Devizes (7 miles). The base, which is not visible, is marked with "Burt, Devizes."
