Description

Hilltop is a cottage from around 1850, located on the Bowood estate in Derry Hill, Calne Without. It is built from rubble stone and features a stone slate roof with eaves. The cottage is designed in a Tudor style and has a single storey with an attic. It includes stone mullion windows, with one stone shouldered dormer gable that has a 2-light window. On the ground floor, there is a 3-light window with a hoodmould to the left, a single light window to the right, and a cambered-head door set in a decorative timber and tile gabled porch. This cottage was likely designed by Emily, Lady Shelburne, who also designed Nos 22-23 Old Derry Hill, as noted in the Bowood estate plans.
