Description

This milestone, located approximately 580 meters south of Beckhampton Roundabout, dates from around 1745 and marks the Swindon to Devizes turnpike. It is made of colourwashed sarsen stone and features a triangular shaft with a hexagonal top that is chamfered to a square base. The milestone has been reset and has painted inscriptions indicating distances: "82 Miles to LONDON" on the top face, "7 Miles to MARLBRO" on the left side, and "7 Miles to DEVIZES" on the right side.
