Description
The Waggon and Horses Public House is a building that dates back to the 17th century, specifically 1669, with some 20th-century alterations. It is constructed of limestone and features a thatched roof. The structure has two storeys and consists of four bays, with a forward wing on the right and narrow lean-to services at the rear. The original building comprised three bays, with the entrance leading to a central hall and a parlour located in the right bay.
An open stone porch with two storeys, canted stone-mullioned bay windows, and the fourth bay on the left were added in the early 20th century. Inside, the building showcases chamfered spine beams that are swept out at the ends, while the parlour features ovolo moulding with bar stops. The late 19th to early 20th-century additions are noted for their picturesque quality. The establishment was formerly known as The Bear and the Hare and Hounds.
