Description
April Cottage is a pair of cottages that have been combined into one, dating from the 17th century with 18th century rebuilding of the front. The building features painted Flemish bond brick and a thatched roof with a brick stack on the left side. It is one storey and has an attic, with three windows. There is a 20th century door on the right, flanked by two 12-pane sash windows and one 2-light casement window, while a door on the left is blocked. The window openings have segmental heads. A two-brick plat band is present on the first floor of the left part. The cottage has three 2-light casements in eyebrow dormers. A Sun Insurance disc is located above the front door. The rear wall displays some exposed timber-framing. Inside, there is a timber-framed partition, a chamfered beam with run-out stops, an 18th century open fireplace with a reused chamfered lintel, and the roof contains some reused smoke-blackened timbers.
