Description
Georges Barn is a pair of semi-detached cottages dating from the late 17th century. They are constructed of rubble stone with Flemish bond brick on the first floor and feature a thatched half-hipped roof with brick stacks. The cottages are arranged in a T-plan and are two storeys high with three windows.
On the left side, there is a planked door set within a 20th-century thatched porch, while the right side has two three-light recessed chamfered mullioned casements. The building has a moulded stone offset leading to the brick first floor, along with a blocked chamfered light and another three-light mullioned casement.
To the right, there is an early 18th-century cross wing that includes two two-light recessed chamfered mullioned casements on the ground floor and a 20th-century casement on the first floor. To the left, a single-storey 18th-century extension features a three-light casement and a two-light casement in an eyebrow dormer. The right return has a half-glazed door in a thatched porch and a three-light casement to the right.
At the rear, there are 20th-century steel casements and a glazed door, along with a lean-to extension at the back of the main building. The interior was not accessible during the survey conducted in May 1985.
