Description
Dairy Cottage is a detached cottage dating from the mid-17th century, with a late 20th-century addition to the west. It is constructed of painted rubble stone and features a hipped thatched roof with a brick stack to the left of the original building. The cottage has an L-plan due to the addition made in 1975. It is two stories high and has three windows, all with casements. The entrance is through a six-panelled door located in a 20th-century thatched porch, with two 20th-century casements to the left and two 2-light casements to the right. The first floor of the original structure includes a 3-light casement and a 2-light casement. The right side of the cottage has a 1-light casement on the ground floor and a 2-light casement on the first floor, while the rear features a mix of 1-light and 2-light casements. Inside, the cottage retains a deep chamfered beam with run-out stops, an open fireplace with a chamfered cambered lintel on brick jambs, and a planked door leading to winding stairs. Dairy Cottage is included as an intact 17th-century cottage that has preserved its character despite the sympathetic late 20th-century addition.
