Description

Bridgewalk House is a detached house dating from the 18th century with additions from the mid-19th century. It is constructed of rendered rubble stone with a Welsh slate roof and rendered brick stacks topped with toothed capping. The house originally comprised an 18th-century cottage at the rear, which was enlarged by the addition of a front range and re-roofed in the mid-19th century.

The front of the house has two storeys and three windows. The central entrance features a 6-panelled double door with a transom light above and a flat wooden hood. Either side of the door are flush 16-pane sash windows within moulded architraves, each with a keystone. The first floor has three matching flush 16-pane sash windows, also in moulded architraves with keystones. The right return has a 2-light casement window on the first floor. Attached single-storey additions from the mid-19th century flank the returns, each with a 16-pane sash window. At the rear, a planked door is positioned to the left of centre, set within a gabled timber porch; to either side is a 3-light casement window, and to the right a 2-light casement. The first floor has two 2-light casement windows.

The interior of the rear range retains flagstone floors. The front range features 6-panelled doors within moulded architraves, panelled shutters to window reveals, and plain classical fireplaces. Attached outhouses to the rear have pantiled roofs and planked doors.
