Description

Starfield is a detached house dating from the 18th century, rebuilt in the mid-19th century. It features a limestone ashlar front and a rubble stone rear, topped with a Welsh slate mansard roof that has coped verges and stone stacks at the gable ends. The house is two stories high with a three-window front facing southwest.

The central entrance is a classical stone porch with round-arched double doors, which open to reveal a six-panelled inner door with a fanlight above. The porch is flanked by two-storey canted bays that have segmental-headed plate glass sash windows on the ground floor, complete with keystones and imposts. A sill band runs along the first floor, where the bays contain 12-pane sash windows, and there is a central 12-pane sash window above the entrance. A moulded cornice is present above a plain blocking course.

On the right side of the house, there are two single-light attic casements. The rear service wing features pairs of 12-pane sashes on the ground floor and 16-pane sashes on the first floor. The rear of the service wing includes 19th and 20th-century casements and two blocked mullioned windows, indicating that earlier fabric has been incorporated into the 19th-century house.
