Description

The Temple in the Garden at The Courts is a garden temple built in the early 20th century. It is constructed from limestone ashlar and features a stone slate roof with coped verges. The temple is supported by four Composite columns and has a plain frieze topped with a moulded pediment that includes a female mask and garlands. The structure was restored by the National Trust in the 1980s. It is one of several garden features designed by Sir George Hastings around 1900 and further developed by Lady Cecilie Goff during the 1920s and 1930s.
