Description

The Manor House is a detached house located on Codford High Street, dating from the mid-19th century, with alterations and extensions made in the late 19th century. It is constructed of limestone ashlar with a rubble stone rear and features a two-span Welsh slate hipped roof with deep eaves and brick stacks. The entrance is positioned at right angles to the road.

The house is two stories tall and has two windows on the front. It includes an Ionic portico with glazed outer doors and a half-glazed inner door with a fanlight to the left of the main front. To the right, there is a canted bay with 15-pane sash windows and a double half-glazed door set in a pilastered architrave. On the first floor, there are two tripartite sash windows. A late 19th-century range set back to the left features two 12-pane sash windows on both the ground and first floors. The right return has additional 12-pane sashes and an attached single-storey rubble stone outhouse.

At the rear, the house has a four-panelled door, a tripartite sash, and a canted bay on the main range with sash windows on the first floor. There is also a mullioned and transomed window that lights the stairs in a set-back bay to the right, which has a later 19th-century range with paired sashes and a canted leaded bay. Inside, the house features a late 19th-century open well staircase with twisted balusters, a wide moulded handrail, window shutters, and four-panelled doors.
