Description

Overton House is a detached house built around 1800, with alterations made in the early 20th century. It features a header bond brick construction with chamfered stone quoins and a hipped roof covered in Welsh slate, supported by deep eaves and brick stacks. The house is two stories tall and has three windows across its front.

The entrance includes a two-story brick porch from the 20th century, which has double-glazed doors and an inner door with a fanlight. On either side of the porch, there are 20-pane sash windows with flat brick arches. The first floor has a 20-pane sash window on either side of the porch, along with a tripartite plate glass sash window and a balustraded parapet. The left side of the house has a 20-pane sash window on the ground floor and two 16-pane sashes on the first floor. The right side is finished in dressed limestone and features 12-pane sash windows. At the rear, there is a gabled wing with 20-pane sashes, while the main range has round-headed fixed and blind windows.

Inside, the house retains original joinery, including six-panelled doors in moulded architraves, a staircase with cast-iron balusters and a wreathed moulded handrail, and window shutters. The front boundary is marked by an irregular bond brick wall topped with pitched stone coping and cast-iron spearhead railings, with a single central gate. To the right of the house, there is a rubble stone and brick wall that returns to the corner.
