Description

Asserton House is a detached house built in the late 18th century, rebuilt in the early 19th century, and reroofed around 1860. The front is made of limestone ashlar, while the sides are constructed from flint and rubble stone. It features a Welsh slate, two-span roof with brick stacks and consists of two parallel ranges. The house is two stories high with a three-window front dating from around 1830. The central entrance has a 20th-century door with a transom light, flanked by 12-pane margin-pane sashes set in elliptically-arched panels. On the first floor, there are three 12-pane sashes with margin panes. The attic includes three gabled dormers with 6-pane sashes, and the slate roof has deep eaves supported by paired brackets.

On the left side of the house, there is a 6-panelled door, a three-light casement window, and a 12-pane margin-pane sash. The first floor has a sash window, a blocked window, and another sash to the left in the attic. The right side features a 6-panelled door with a transom light and a sash window on the ground floor, along with 8-pane and 12-pane sashes on the first floor, and a sash in the right attic.

At the rear, there is a single-storey range of mid-19th century outbuildings that enclose a service courtyard. These outbuildings have three-light casements, 16-pane sashes, planked doors, and slate roofs. Inside the house, there are 6-panelled doors, a central staircase with two stick balusters per tread, shaped cheeks, a moulded and wreathed handrail, and window shutters.
