Description

Manor Farmhouse is a farmhouse that dates from the late 16th century with a rebuild in the early 18th century. It features Flemish bond brick with stone quoins on the south front, while the rear and returns are made of chequered flint and rubble stone. The building has a tiled roof and gable end brick stacks, and it is designed in a 'T'-plan. The structure is two-storey with an attic and has five windows, all of which are casements.

There is a central gabled porch with a half-glazed door set in a chamfered stone case, flanked by two 20th-century steel 2-light casements that have been inserted into former mullioned windows. A moulded string course runs along the first floor, where five casements are located; two of these retain their recessed chamfered mullioned surrounds, while the others have steel or wooden inserts. The building also features two hipped dormers with 2-light casements. The right return has a 20th-century casement in the attic, and the left return has a blocked attic window with an inserted clock face. The rear of the main range includes a 1-light casement on the first floor, and the rear wing has 3-light recessed chamfered mullioned casements or 3-light wooden casements. Attached to the rear of the wing is a single-storey extension with a hipped roof.

Inside, the farmhouse retains a notable 16th-century compartmental ceiling with moulded cross beams in the wing, along with a large blocked open fireplace featuring a timber lintel on stone jambs. There is a timber-framed partition between the wing and the front range, as well as a studded partition on the first floor of the front range. The interior also includes planked doors, one of which has a moulded recessed central plank. The ground floor of the front range has reused chamfered ceiling beams set upside-down, and the first floor features chamfered beams with shaped stops.
