Description

A group of three cottages, now two dwellings, was built in the late 17th century and rebuilt in the early 19th century. The cottages are constructed of coursed rubble stone with a double Roman tiled roof and gabled stone stacks at the rear. They are two storeys and an attic, originally with a four-window arrangement. Number 125 has a 6-panel door, with 15-pane sash windows on either side and an 18-pane sash to the right. Number 127 has two 6-panelled doors; the left one is blocked, both with transom lights. The first floor has four 18-pane sash windows. There are three dormers with 2-light casements in the attic.

A late 19th century addition of English bond brickwork projects to the right, featuring a planked door within a large round-arched surround with a keystone and impost. Flanking the door are single-light casements, and a single-light window is above. This addition is attached to a late 17th century three-storey wing with moulded cross windows with dripstones on the ground and first floors and a 2-light mullioned attic casement. The wing has a coped verge. The right return has a planked door and a bull’s eye window on the first floor. The rear of the cottages includes mullioned casements of 3-lights and 2-lights, along with lean-to extensions. Interiors were inaccessible at the time of survey in May 1987.
