Description

The Offices of J and T Beaven is a cottage that has been converted into factory offices, dating from the mid 18th century and 19th century. It is constructed of English garden wall bond brick with stone dressings and chamfered quoins, topped with a stone slate roof and brick stacks. The building is arranged in a U-plan and is two storeys high with four windows.

The entrance features a 20th-century door set in a beaded architrave with a flat stone hood, positioned to the right of the centre. On either side of the door are three-light chamfered mullioned casements. A plat band runs along the first floor, which contains two three-light mullioned casements and a round window. The left-hand bays include three-light cyma-mullioned casements, two-light mullioned casements in a blocked doorway on the ground floor, and a three-light mullioned casement on the first floor.

To the right, a 19th-century wing projects and features three-light and two-light beaded mullioned casements, along with a half-glazed door. The first floor has two-light mullioned casements and two small wooden casements, while the gable end facing the road has two-light mullioned casements. A higher 19th-century wing projects to the left, showcasing two-light beaded mullioned casements and a blocked loading bay to the left. This wing has a splayed corner with ashlar dressings. Only the two left-hand bays of the left return are included in the listing, and the rear ranges are not considered of special interest.
