Description

Nos 27 and 29 High Street are a pair of houses built in the late 19th century, located at the end of a row. They are constructed of Flemish bond brick, with some timber-framing on the first floor, and feature a tiled roof and brick stacks. The buildings are arranged in an L-shape on a corner and consist of one storey and an attic, with three windows across the front.

The entrance to No. 27 is through a recessed porch on the left, while No. 29 has its door on the curved corner. The façade includes a header bond brick design, with a three-light square bay window to the left of No. 29's door, a three-light casement window to the right of No. 27's door, and a two-light casement window on the corner. On the first floor, there are two gabled half dormers with three-light casements and one small two-light casement, along with a three-light casement on the corner that jetties over the recessed ground floor.

The right return features two three-light casements on both the ground floor and the half dormers above. The corner is topped with a curved tiled roof, and there are groups of diagonally-set brick stacks with toothed capping. The rear of the buildings includes a planked door and two-light casements on the ground floor and in the half dormers. The interior has not been inspected. These houses are noted for their good composition at the corner site, situated at the junction of High Street and Barford Lane.
