Description

The barn and store located to the west of Almonry is an 18th-century building. It is a long, single-storey structure with a loft, constructed of brick in English bond with occasional blue diaper work. The building features a stepped plinth and eaves courses, topped with a half hipped old tile roof. There are end pilasters and two additional pilasters flanking three bays. On the southwest side, there are segmental headed openings that include one window, two doors, five windows, one door, and one plus one windows from right to left. A lean-to is present at part of the rear. At the gable end, the eaves treatment returns below the half hip, with corner piers that have a moulded cornice. There is a pitched brick yard at the angle with the garden wall. Inside, the structure consists of two plus seven plus two plus two bays and features queen post trusses with stop-chamfered tie-beams. It is said to have been used as a weavers' or carpet manufacturers' shop.
