Description
No 8 Kingsbury Square is a mid-18th century building that stands two storeys high with an attic, designed symmetrically like a dolls house. It features a red brick facade in header bond on a stone plinth, with rustic quoins and voussoir lintels. There is a stone band above the ground floor and a stone eaves cornice. The roof is tiled, with a hipped dormer in the center, a two-light casement window, and a brick chimney on the left gable. The first floor has three windows, while the ground floor has two, both with flush frames and glazing bar sashes. The central entrance boasts a six-panel door with raised and fielded panels, flanked by stop-fluted sides and a lintel, topped with cut brackets supporting a moulded pediment. The gable end to the south is tile hung. Inside, the through-passage has been altered due to modernisation. The front room features a good early to mid-18th century fireplace with a bolection frieze, an egg and dart surround, garlands, and imbricated brackets. A similar fireplace with a plain frieze is located at the rear on the first floor, originally from the front room, which has a bold plaster cornice.
