Description
47 and 49 Russell Street are early to mid 18th century buildings, with No 47 likely remodeled from premises dating back to around 1600 or earlier. The structure is partly timber framed and rendered, featuring a tiled roof with wooden eaves cornice and end chimneys. The east gable is timber-framed and tile hung.
No 47 has a single range of three-light casements, while No 49 has two ranges of casements, with two-light windows on the first floor and three-light windows on the ground floor. No 47 features a plain ledged door to the left, while No 49 has a six-panel door to the left with a modern bracketed hood. Inside No 47, there is a partly panelled ground floor room with mid 19th century matchboarding and a curved chimneypiece. Originally, No 47 was gable end to the road, and its queen post and windbrace roof is now part of the remodeled roof.
